Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has waxed lyrical about Spurs teammate Son Heung-min in wake of being named Premier League Player of the Year at the 2021 London Football Awards.

The Spurs marksman has enjoyed another outstanding campaign, registering 31 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, with 21 goals and 13 assists coming in the English top flight.

Kane’s efforts saw him see off competition from Son, West Ham duo Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, and Chelsea’s Mason Mount to land the POTY accolade on Tuesday night.

The England international paid tribute to his Tottenham front line partner, with whom he has forged an almost telepathic connection on the pitch this season, combining for numerous goals.

“Son has been incredible,” Kane is quoted by Sky Sports as saying.

“We have a really good connection, a really good understanding. We get on really well on and off the pitch. We’re good friends and I’m happy to see him playing well too.”

Kane also spoke highly about living and plying his trade in London, saying there is “nothing better” than being able to play for his local team and adding that the city will always have a special place in his heart.

“I’m from London, so growing up and having that local feeling, there is nothing better than playing for your local team, the ones you have been brought up around,” said the 27-year-old.

“London will always have a special place in my heart. It’s where I’m from and where a lot of my family are from. It’s a special award to win for sure.

“There are so many great players based in London. To win this award is a great achievement.”

Up next for Spurs is Sunday night’s Premier League meeting with Sheffield United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
