Harry Kane says one Arsenal player made it easy for him on Tuesday night

Harry Kane has shared how he did his research on one Arsenal player before Bayern Munich travelled to the Emirates for the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.

Harry Kane came back to haunt the Gunners on his first trip back to the Emirates following his move to Bavaria in the summer.

It was the England captain who put Thomas Tuchel’s side in front during the first-half in North London. Bayern had equalised through Serge Gnabry after Bukayo Saka had broken the deadlock.

The visitors were awarded a penalty after William Saliba fouled Leroy Sane. And that presented Kane with the chance to score.

The 30-year-old had scored 14 goals in 19 appearances against Arsenal during his time with Tottenham. And he made it 15 against the Premier League leaders on Tuesday.

Harry Kane says he did his research on David Raya before Arsenal tie

Kane calmly rolled the ball into the back of the net having waited for David Raya to commit to going one way. Rio Ferdinand joked that Kane was out of order for the audacity of the finish.

But speaking on TNT Sports (broadcast on 9/4 from 19:00), Kane suggested that he knew exactly what he was doing after looking into the Arsenal goalkeeper ahead of the tie.

“I did a bit of research on his game against Porto and he really gets to the corners early. So I had to change my style a little bit but that’s part of it and it was nice to see him go early and make it easy for me,” he said.

Arsenal star may have chance to redeem himself

Raya was the hero of the last 16 tie with Porto, with the Spaniard saving two penalties in the shootout.

But clearly, that game helped Kane decide what he was going to do if presented with an opportunity against the Gunners.

Raya will be unhappy with how he did fall into the trap. And that may make things very interesting should Bayern get a penalty in the second-leg – or the tie go all the way in the Allianz Arena.

Kane certainly won the psychological battle on Tuesday. But the tie is still very much in the balance.
