Harry Kane has been giving his thoughts on Tottenham’s pre-season preparations out in Singapore, as reported by Football.London.
Kane went into the summer having rushed back from injury for the Champions League final and Nations League and has also been speaking about new-boy Tanguy Ndombele.
He said of the Frenchman: “He’s settled in well. Moussa Sissoko has been like a big brother to him. I haven’t been here before. It’s a beautiful place. I haven’t had a lot of time to get out and about but I’ve seen some beautiful views from my room.
“[This season] we have to play better and perform better. We know there were games when we could have done better. It’s down to us to improve on what we did.”
Tottenham don’t make signings of any kind very often – much less big-money ones – so there’s a major pressure on the players who do come in for big fees to be a success right away.
Sissoko will be vital in helping his countryman settle and avoid the slow start he had to his Tottenham career back when he was the club’s record signing.
It helps that Ndombele has come in earlier than Tottenham signings usually do, giving him pre-season to prepare. Sissoko came in on deadline day when it wasn’t clear whether he’d go to Everton instead, which can’t have helped.
But Ndombele needs to hit the ground running if Tottenham are to get themselves back on the trophy trail next season, such is the relentless pace being set in the Premier League.
