Harry Kane has now reacted to Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy’s recent comments about his hopes for the striker to have a statue outside the stadium in the future.

The Spurs striker has been speaking to Sky Sports and he was shown a clip of Levy’s recent interview with the Cambridge University debating society.

Levy revealed that he believes Kane can still pick up silverware at Tottenham and added that he hopes he can have a statue built one day.

“He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs,’ he said. “But being a legend is also important.

“The fact that he’s top scorer for Tottenham Hotspur, he’s making history. I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium.”

Now, Kane has reacted to Levy’s comments and while he said he is grateful, his focus is on his performances on the pitch.

“Again, it’s something that’s not really my decision I guess,” Kane said. “I’m really respectful of the club and it’s a club where I’ve been at since I was 11 years old, so nearly 19 years now, and I feel like we have achieved a lot in my career even though we haven’t got the trophies to show for it.

“A statue is not something that is going to make or break my career, I appreciate the words that the chairman said about me. But ultimately what I can do is on the pitch and I feel like I’m giving my all in every game and trying to help the team as much as possible.”

Kane doesn’t seem to be too thrilled about the prospect of having a statue outside Tottenham’s stadium and his reference to it not being able to ‘make or break’ his career may worry some Spurs fans.

The 29-year-old’s future will undoubtedly dominate the headlines this summer as he heads into the final year of his contract at Spurs.

But the club will be hopeful that they can convince him to put pen to paper with the right managerial appointment.

Levy is facing a huge summer ahead as he bids to secure replacements for Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici while deciding on Kane’s future.
