Tottenham saw off Slovenian side Mura 5-1 tonight in the Europa Conference League, with Harry Kane smashing in a hat-trick for Nuno Santos’ side.

It was a comfortable night at the office really for Tottenham. Mura might have got one back to make it 2-1 in the second period. But in reality, Spurs were never really going to lose the game.

And when Santo introduced Kane, Son, and Lucas all at once just before the hour, there was a sense of inevitability about things.

Sure enough, Kane delivered. The England man was on hand to knock home three goals to seal the win, and he did so by playing higher up the field than we’ve seen him in recent times.

Kane, then, took to Twitter in the aftermath of the game to deliver his 8-word verdict on the game, as well as his personal milestone.

Kane’s return to some sort of form is a big boost for Spurs. And while the Conference League might not be the most glamorous of tournaments, it can be important for Tottenham.

TBR’s View: Kane needed this hat-trick and it could be a turning point

Yes, it was against poor opposition. Yes, it was a game which Spurs might have won anyway without Kane.

But strikers need goals, and more importantly, Harry Kane needed goals.

It’s vital for front players to hit the back of the net, whatever the game. So this is a massive boost for Nuno Santo and Spurs ahead of their weekend fixture before the internationals.

Harry Kane needs to score goals if Tottenham are to do well. A hat-trick against Mura, then, can do no harm at all.
