Hareide compares Tottenham ace Harry Kane to Cristiano Ronaldo
Former Denmark manager Age Hareide has compared Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to the BBC, Hareide claimed that the Englishman is just as ‘dangerous’ as the Portuguese forward.
There certainly seemed to be a Ronaldo feel about Kane last season. The ace scored 33 times and registered 17 assists as he carried Spurs through the season. His 50-goal contribution accounted for just under 50% of Tottenham’s strikes.
Kane endured a slow start to Euro 2020, failing to score in any of the group games. However, things have picked up since with three goals in two games against Germany and Ukraine.
Speaking about Kane, Hareide believes the 27-year-old will be the difference between the two sides today.
When talking about Kane, Hareide said: “Harry Kane is like Cristiano Ronaldo. Give him a chance and he scores, that’s why he is so dangerous. He drifts around and will be out of the game but suddenly one pass from either (Raheem) Sterling or (Jadon) Sancho or (Jack) Grealish, and he scores.”
Kane has a Tottenham goalscoring record to somewhat match Ronaldo after comparison by Hareide
Amid the comparison by Hareide, Kane has a Tottenham goalscoring record to somewhat match Ronaldo.
His consistency over the last few years has been nothing short of frightening.
Kane has scored 24 goals or more across each of the last seven seasons. If this was Ronaldo, people would be going crazy.
And if you were going to be extreme, you could even say the England captain has been in better form than the 36-year-old over the last two years.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens after the European Championship. Retaining Kane will be an important task for Spurs as they look to stave off interest in their talismanic figure.
