‘Hardly did a thing’: Hartson makes blunt four-word comment about 24-year-old Celtic player

John Hartson was not impressed last night by the cameo performance from Celtic striker Albian Ajeti.

The Hoops were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday night in the second qualifying round, with Danish opposition FC Midtjylland beating them in extra time.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were level at 2-2 after 180 minutes over the two legs. However, Midtjylland progressed to the next round in extra time to play against PSV Eindhoven.

Meanwhile, Scottish giants Celtic play against Czech side FK Jablonec next week in the Europa League third round qualifiers.

Pundit and ex-Celtic forward Hartson made a short negative comment about the input of Ajeti. He said on Premier Sports that he “hardly did a thing”.

The £5million striker was given the second half of extra time to try change the game with his fresh legs off the bench, but did very little like most of his teammates.

Ajeti scapegoated last night, but he’s a problem for Celtic

Ajeti wasn’t the hero off the bench. However, in reality, he did only get a brief 15-minute spell to try make his mark.

There is the issue though that the 24-year-old has flopped during his Parkhead career so far.

He scored just six goals in 30 appearances during his debut season last year for the Bhoys, which is miles off the return needed from a frontline forward.
