A number of Arsenal fans have welcomed the report in Spanish outlet La Razon claiming Willian is being earmarked for a departure next summer.

The 32-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium to much fanfare earlier this year, signing a three-year deal reportedly worth £220,000-a-week after leaving Chelsea on a free transfer.

Willian hit the ground running in his first competitive game for Arsenal, registering two assists and putting in a man-of-the-match display in the Premier League opener at Fulham.

However, most of his performances since that game have been average at best and fruitless at worst, resulting in some fans and pundits – like Alan Smith – suggesting his signing was a mistake.

According to La Razon, Willian is not happy at the Emirates Stadium, and La Liga side Real Betis are apparently willing to make a “significant financial effort” to sign him next summer.

However, the report claims that the Brazilian would have to lower his wage demands considerably, while Arsenal would have to let Willian go for free to make the deal work.

While some Arsenal fans are a bit sceptical about this report, quite a few would nonetheless like for it to actually happen, even on a free:
