Hansi Flick suggests hope for Liverpool in Thiago Alcantara chase

Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick might have offered Liverpool a transfer boost after suggesting to Die Zeit that keeping his Champions League-winning squad together will be impossible.

Jurgen Klopp is desperately keen to add Thiago Alcantara to his ranks this summer and these comments will only enhance the possibility of a deal coming to fruition.

Alcantara was a standout performer in central midfielder for Bayern last season, helping the club to a famous treble.

The Bavarians value their player at £29 million, although it’s uncertain whether Liverpool will bid that much for the 29-year-old.

Flick is resigned to a summer of change, however, admitting as much during a recent interview.

He told Die Zeit: “We will lose some players who have tremendous quality, we have to deal with that.

“If I could continue to work with this squad, that would be nice, but that is not the case.”

Liverpool won the Premier League title last season to go alongside the Champions League crown they collected the season previous.

The Reds will look to maintain their winning streak during next season as they look to try and defend their first-ever Premier League prize.

Adding Thiago would certainly give them every chance of doing that and he’d perhaps offer something different to the club’s other midfield options.

Bayern won all 11 of the Champions League games during 2019/20, capping a remarkable season by defeating PSG in the final.

Alcantara has played 37 times for Spain and last season he finished with a pass success ratio of just over 90% for the whole season (Who Scored).

These comments from Flick could suggest any of his players leaving, but it would seem that the club might be resigned to losing one of their key players this summer.
