‘Had an absolute…’: David Seaman slates £140k-a-week Arsenal man during today’s game

Arsenal legend David Seaman has criticised Gunners winger Nicolas Pepe for his late miss in today’s Premier League draw at Burnley.

The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor, with individual errors and VAR contributing to Mikel Arteta’s side having to make do with just a point.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring early on after latching on to Willian’s pass, carving his way into the box and firing home.

However, Granit Xhaka’s attempted crossfield delivery under pressure resulted in the ball ricocheting off Chris Wood and finding the back of the net.

Pepe replaced Willian with 20 minutes remaining and though he’d won Arsenal a penalty when the ball hit Erik Pieters’ arm.

To the chagrin of the Gunners contingent, referee Andre Marriner waved play on and VAR did not overturn the decision.

And then came the wasted gilt-edged opportunity, Kieran Tierney playing a superb ball across the face of goal, only for the £140,000-a-week winger to completely scuff his attempt.

Here is what Seaman wrote during the game, including his thoughts on Pepe failing to put away an “absolute sitter”:

Arsenal, currently 10th in the Premier League table on 38 points, face Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting Spurs in the league on Sunday.
