Habib Habibou has message for Leeds United fans

Habib Habibou has urged former side Leeds United supporters to keep the faith in their bid for promotion this season, after Monday eveningโ€™s 2-0 defeat to Brentford left them with little chance of automatic promotion.

Leeds are now three points adrift of second-placed Sheffield United, who beat Hull City 3-0 hours before Leeds suffered the loss at Griffin Park. With two league games to play, the Blades are in the driving seat.

Habibou, 32, managed just four appearances for Leeds after joining the club on loan from Belgian side Zulte Waregem in the 2012-13 campaign. The journeyman is with his 12th career club, Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikva.

The former Whites striker reignited his connection with the Championship outfit to urge Leeds fans to keep the faith and back the team in their bid for promotion, which is likely to see them enter a play-off campaign.

TBRโ€™s view

Leeds have run out of energy and ideas under Marcelo Bielsa. Against Brentford, they were lacklustre in the final third though they should have been awarded a penalty.

But at the back, they were all over the place. Pontus Jansson has not looked himself, while Liam Cooper had only just returned after two games on the sidelines.

Even if Leeds are not going to get promoted this season automatically, it is of utmost importance that they win their remaining two games to develop some momentum ahead of the play-offs.
