Everton star Gylfi Sigurdsson has suggested there is personally more to come from him after a slow start to the season.

The Toffees as a collective are going well in the new season, having won two games, drawn one and lost one in the league so far.

They sit sixth in the Premier League table on seven points and are in action against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium after the international break.

It’s been a decent start for Marco Silva’s team, but Iceland international Sigurdsson has acknowledged he will need to step up his game.

“We have two decent games (Bournemouth and newly promoted Sheffield United) ahead that could put us in a good position,” he said (Liverpool Echo). “I wasn’t quite at my best in the first few games, but the last few games have been better.

“I’ve been better, and the team is better going forward. We’ve now scored seven goals in two games. We knew we were creating opportunities but weren’t sharp enough up front.”

It has been a fairly low key start from Sigurdsson, but Bournemouth and Sheffield United represent really good opportunities for him to get back to his best.

The £100,000-week star (Spotrac) is one of Everton’s best players and needs to be on top form if the club are going to challenge for Europe this season.

With the likes of Moise Kean, Alex Iwobi and Richarlison ahead of him, Sigurdsson’s creative talents are going to be extremely important for the Toffees going forwards.
