Gyasi Zardes could be an exciting risk that pays off for Leeds

Leeds United are interested in signing Major League Soccer attacker Gyasi Zardes, according to reports.

TEAMtalk reports that Leeds will rival a number of Premier League sides for Zardes. This move would take place in the summer ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Fulham and Huddersfield Town are also keen on Zardes but by the summer, those two teams could be in the Championship while Leeds could be back in the Premier League, if current form is maintained.

Bringing Zardes to England would be a risk considering the 40-cap USA international’s lack of experience outside of North America.

But with 20 goals in 36 games for Columbus Crew in this season’s MLS, it is clear that the 27-year-old is ready to test himself outside of his home country.

This might be a risk worth taking for Leeds and Zardes’ ability to operate as a centre-forward or on the wing would work well for Marcelo Bielsa’s system.

With pace and an eye for goal, the American striker is an exciting option that could go either way.

If he fails to adjust to life in England, then Leeds would have to cut their losses. But if he hits the ground running, it could be a Bielsa masterstroke.
