Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will leave the club when his contract expires this summer, the club’s official website has announced.
After 11 years, 360 appearances, four Premier League titles, four League Cups and two FA Cups, Kompany has called time on a highly-decorated Man City career.
The popular centre-back also scored 20 goals for the club, including a vital long-range winner against Leicester City in this season’s title-winning campaign.
Kompany has had his injury problems in the past few years and has played less. But whenever called upon, the 33-year-old has played with passion, determination and skill.

The veteran defender will always be remembered as one of the great Premier League central defenders. And Man City fans will not forget him in a rush.
Kompany’s final game was the FA Cup final at Wembley. One week after lifting the Premier League trophy, the Belgium international skippered the side to a dominant 6-0 cup final win.
But today was time to pay tribute to Kompany. City supporters flocked to Twitter to pay their respect to Kompany after more than a decade of great service. Here are the best tweets.
