Gus Poyet has told Sky Sports News (Thursday, 11:20AM) that Antonio Conte needs to schedule a meeting with Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Kane, 28, has been struggling to rediscover his best form in the Premier League – netting just once in nine games. He has miles away from his best.

Many believe it is down to Nuno’s tactics, a lack of creativity from the Portuguese gaffer’s midfield thwarted Kane. He has lacked ammunition.

Now with Conte in place, many are hoping that the creativity is replaced in the middle of the park. It might just bring the best out of Kane, again.

Ex-Spurs man Poyet spoke ahead of Conte’s debut for Tottenham against Vitesse, as saying that a meeting between Kane and Conte must be had.

“With the experience of Conte, one of the first meetings will be with Harry Kane – I’ve got no doubt about it,” Poyet said.

“They need goals, the team needs to play in a certain way to give him chances to score. That is something I am sure Conte will put right.”

Poyet on Kane and Conte: Tottenham star should start tonight

Conte will be desperate to keep the feel-good factor running after his appointment. Having got his working Visa, he will take charge tonight.

While a weakened side lost to Vitesse away from home, the side fielded still had enough about it to win. But Spurs should be full strength tonight.

Winning tonight is crucial, getting Conte off to the best start possible. But also starting Kane, to kick off his spell under the Italian with goals.

If Kane score tonight, it validates the hope for Kane that he will get more chances to net – in Conte’s system. A win, and a Kane goal, is ideal.
