2) Chelsea enjoyed their title celebrations a little too much
Chelsea looked a mere shadow of the side that romped to the Premier League title at Wembley on Saturday evening. Gone was the energy, creativity and buzz that tore sides apart in the league, and instead there was a side which seemed lethargic and drained with nothing left to offer.
Victor Moses’ performance was the perfect example, with none of his usual runs bombing down the wing, none of his defensive anticipation and instead some foolish decision making which saw him lose his discipline to take a dive in the box yards in front of referee Anthony Taylor to pick up his second yellow card.
Quite why the Blues failed to turn up is unclear, but many will likely blame the way that the side eased off in the final weeks of the season with the title secure and many seemingly more interested in giving John Terry a good send off. Antonio Conte could also be questioned as he remains still searching for his first even cup final win in management.
