Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has confirmed that there is a role waiting for Santi Cazorla at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, but not as a player.
Arsenal fans have been wondering if the Spanish veteran could return to The Emirates amid his sensational renaissance at Villarreal.
The 35-year-old, whose previous injury concerns looked like ending his football career early, has been in great form for the La Liga side and some Arsenal fans would like to see Cazorla back in North London.
Balague has now confirmed on his YouTube channel that Arsenal boss Arteta will be handing Cazorla an opportunity to head back to Arsenal, but not as a player.
Instead, the Arsenal boss would love to have him as part of the coaching team at some point in the future.
“I can tell you that there has been no offer at the moment for Cazorla to join as a player, no offer.
“But I do know that Arteta will ask Cazorla to be as a member of the coaching staff at some point in the future because them two understand football the same way, they love working with each other but there’s so much that Arteta has to do to get things right at Arsenal.”
Of course, Cazorla is not yet set to make the move to Arsenal. Therefore, a future at the club would depend on Arteta still being in charge by the time the Spanish wizard is ready to step into a coaching role.
Arsenal fans will no doubt be loving the idea of their former midfield dynamo heading back to The Emirates to try and help Arsenal get back to their glory days.
