Guedioura must be the one to make way for returning Colback after weekend win

Jack Colback was suspended for the weekend visit of Sheffield United but it didn’t matter as Nottingham Forest were able to secure a 1-0 win regardless.

Perhaps Aitor Karanka, despite his love for tinkering with his team, will be tempted to keep with an unchanged side when Stoke travel to the City Ground this weekend.

If he is, then it would be a misstep. Claudio Yacob finally made his Forest debut at the heart of midfield and performed impressively enough doing what he does; winning the ball, playing it simple and keeping it.

But next to him, Adlene Guedioura endured a rare off day and should be the man to make way for Newcastle loanee Colback now that his one-match ban has expired.

The experienced midfielder was sloppy in possession on a number of occasions as he suffered a rare off game.

He’ll get back into contention soon enough, but Colback should make an instant return to the side and Yacob does not deserve to miss out after making an impressive debut.

Stoke’s current form should encourage Karanka that his current midfield can boss proceedings on Saturday, but Guedioura should be watching from the bench at kick off.
