Grujic wants to remain at Hertha Berlin next season after enjoying successful loan spell

Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic wants to be on loan at Hertha Berlin again next season, via Bild, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The 22-year-old midfielder has reportedly recovered impressively from some injury problems earlier in the season and had a strong spell away from Anfield.

With Liverpool investing heavily in midfield talent such as Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri during the summer, Grujic was always likely to find gametime hard to come by at Anfield this season.

But the temporary switch to Germany has worked out well for the player – who reportedly wants to stay – and his manager Pal Dardai who called him “by far the best midfielder” he’d seen at Hertha, during over two decades at the club.

And Grujic has made it clear that he doesn’t want to return to Anfield next season, saying: “If I could choose myself, I would stay with Hertha for another year, or maybe even two years, to make a very good name for myself by improving all my qualities.

“Hertha is my favourite. I would love to stay here longer. If Liverpool ever wanted to sell me and I could decide, it would be great if Hertha made an offer.”

In truth, Grujic might as well spend another season with Hertha because the chances of him breaking into a packed Reds midfield look slim and he has come along leaps and bounds out on loan.
