‘Growing in stature in an Arsenal shirt’: Media blown away by £6m Gunners man’s display v Spurs

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli is really growing into a superstar at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners ace hit the ground running for Arsenal back in 2019-20 after joining for just £6million.

And this year, Martinelli has become a regular for Mikel Arteta’s side and his stock is growing higher and higher.

The 21-year-old delivered a superb display for Arsenal in Saturday’s 3-1 win over bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Multiple media outlets lauded Martinelli for his efforts.

Football.london awarded the Brazilian an 8 out of 10 for his efforts on the day.

‘Was a threat to Emerson Royal throughout the game,’ they wrote.

and maybe even got in his compatriot’s head a little to cause the red card challenge.

‘An assist for Xhaka’s goal and great threat from the left.’

Likewise, the Evening Standard gave him an 8 out of 10.

‘A classic Martinelli performance from the winger who just ran non-stop for the whole game, they wrote.

‘Unlucky to not get on the scoresheet himself.’

And the Daily Mail also went with 8 out of 10 for Martinelli.

‘His pace and directness caused Spurs all worlds of problems,’ they wrote.

‘Growing in stature in an Arsenal shirt. Booked.’

Meanwhile, 90Min went for 7 out of 10.

They wrote: ‘Some really nice dribbling and caused havoc whenever he ran at Spurs’ back line.’

Can Martinelli secure joy with Arsenal and Brazil this season?

Prior to the game, Brazil legends Gilberto Silva and Roberto Carlos both hailed Martinelli.

Though Tite didn’t pick Martinelli for the Selecao’s latest games, there’s always the chance he’ll feature at the 2022 World Cup.

The Arsenal ace is certainly not doing his chances of a call-up any harm with such stellar displays.
