Greg Taylor is hoping for a run of Celtic games after impressing for Scotland.
The 22-year-old told a press conference (via Celtic’s YouTube page) that it was good to get minutes under his belt. Since his late summer switch from Kilmarnock, Taylor has had a slow start to life at Celtic Park.
Neil Lennon has been using other left-backs, like Jonny Hayes and Boli Bolingoli. But Taylor played in last weekend’s win over Livingston, as well as during the international break for Scotland.
Taylor on Celtic run

Taylor told a press conference (via Celtic’s YouTube channel): “As a footballer, you need games of football. Thankfully, in the last few weeks, I’ve got a few at international level and a couple of good ones. Then, more minutes on Saturday and another good one so it’s been a good few weeks and I’m hoping to build on it.”
During his time at Kilmarnock, Taylor was praised for being a modern-day full-back. After picking up a couple of assists for the Scottish national team, the young full-back wants to show Celtic fans what he can do.
When asked about what he can offer to Celtic fans, Taylor added: “Just to do what I’ve done for the last few years. I’ve performed at a consistent level. I’ve grabbed a couple of assists at international level and [Celtic fans should expect] probably just more of the same. I’ve trained well since I’ve come in and I just need to keep doing what I’m doing.”
TBR’s view
Taylor has the potential to replicate Kieran Tierney’s success in the left-back role. Given his ability to get forward and join attacks, he could be an exciting option back there.
But with Bolingoli also competing for the starting left-back spot (when he’s back fit), Lennon has a selection dilemma. With two strong left-backs, Celtic have good options moving forward.
