Greg Taylor has been discussing his future amid links to Celtic this month. The Kilmarnock defender is reportedly on Celtic’s radar as a potential replacement for Kieran Tierney. The Daily Record reported earlier this month that the Scotland international is high up on Celtic’s list of potential Tierney replacements this month.
German side FC Nurnberg are also keen on the player but it seems, for the time being, there has been no approach made for his services. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the 21-year-old confirmed he was still happy to remain at Killie and that no bids have come in from Celtic for his services.
“I’m contracted to Kilmarnock so I’ve just got to keep doing what I can. If that’s enough to impress other teams then that can only be a positive. I’ve not had to speak to the manager about it yet because there’s not been a bid come in for me.
“There were two offers from Nurnberg earlier in the window, but both were rejected so it was out of my hands. I just got on with training at Kilmarnock.
“If and when a bid was to come in that was accepted then it would be discussed.”
Celtic clearly need more reinforcements at left-back. Kieran Tierney and Emilio Izaguirre both left the club this summer and Callum McGregor was asked to play the role in the recent Champions League defeat against CFR Cluj.
Taylor has shown he is a top young talent and can also play in midfield if the situation arises.
Boli Bolingoli is clearly not ready to have the mantle of undisputed left-back starter and Taylor would be a great recruit.
However, it seems that Celtic’s interest does lie elsewhere. Rosenborg defender Birger Meling is expected to join the club this week, as reported by The Herald.
Taylor might be one to keep an eye on in the future.
