‘Greatest ever’: Jamie Carragher blown away by what one Liverpool player has tweeted

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has praised Virgil van Dijk after the Reds defender shared a picture of himself with Anfield icon Alan Hansen.

Van Dijk is arguably the greatest centre-back in Liverpool’s recent history, while Hansen has often been deemed the best Reds defender of all time.

Following Liverpool’s Champions League group victory over Atletico Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday, Van Dijk posted the following on Twitter:

Van Dijk has been so good for Liverpool over the past few years that he has made his £75million transfer fee seem like a bargain.

It didn’t take long for Van Dijk to make his mark following his arrival in 2017, turning a shaky Reds defence into a solid unit en route to trophy glory.

Since the Netherlands international joined Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp’s charges have won the Champions League, the Premier League and the Club World Cup.

Hansen, meanwhile, played for Liverpool between 1977 and 1991, clocking up over 430 appearances for the Reds.

He helped the Anfield outfit win eight English first division titles, three European Cups, two FA Cups and four League Cups.

Hansen also won 26 caps for Scotland between 1979 and 1987.
