‘Great effort’: Sky pundit pleased with one Leeds player besides Aaronson last night

Leeds United fell to a demoralising 2-0 defeat away at Leicester City in the Premier League on Thursday night.

The Whites were second best against their fellow strugglers, who never looked back after two first-half goals.

Robin Koch’s own goal gave the hosts the lead in the 17th minute.

The Leeds defender accidentally prodded an attempted clearance past Illan Meslier from Dennis Praet’s cutback.

And on 35 minutes, Leicester doubled their lead as Harvey Barnes slid home from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s pass.

Leeds players who could hold their heads high after the game were few and far between.

Brenden Aaronson was arguably the best Whites player on the night, showing a spark his peers lacked.

Luis Sinisterra also delivered a decent performance, though it just didn’t fall for him on the night.

‘Got away with it there’

He very nearly pulled Leeds level on the half-hour mark with a superb effort that struck the corner of post and bar.

Sinisterra had Danny Ward beaten, but sadly the woodwork came to the rescue for the Foxes.

Nonetheless, Sky Sports pundit David Nugent liked what he saw from the Colombian.

“Leicester have got away with it there,” he said on Sky Sports News (20/10, 20:49).

“A great effort by Sinisterra, nearly 1-1.”

Crysencio Summerville also came close shortly after Sinisterra’s effort, but he fired just wide.

Sadly, Barnes struck not long after those efforts, and from then on Leeds wilted away.

Leeds are now winless in seven league games, losing their last three in a row.

Only Nottingham Forest (nine games) are on a longer ongoing winless run in this season’s Premier League.

And worryingly for Jesse Marsch, Leeds fans seem to be losing patience.

A fair few were singing Marcelo Bielsa’s name towards the end of the match.
