Former Arsenal and England defender, Martin Keown, has singled out West Ham defender Craig Dawson for praise, following his fine form.
Dawson signed for the Hammers in a move that looked like he’d joined simply to become a squad player under David Moyes.

However, the former West Brom and Bolton man has shone since being given his chance, and is now a regular fixture in a defence which has propelled the Hammers into the European spots.
And Keown, speaking on Talksport yesterday, believes Dawson has been a fine buy for David Moyes.
“I think Dawson is a great bit of business. Tarkowski was meant to be coming in for £35m and Moyes has said no, I don’t pay that sort of money. He came in as fourth choice and now he’s key,” Keown said.
The Hammers take on Tottenham this weekend in a big London derby which could have big ramifcations at the top of the Premier League table. Both are looking to secure European football, although Spurs’ inconsistent form is costing them dearly of late.

Dawson, meanwhile, will look to keep going about his business and continue the fine, if unspectacular, Premier League career he’s had.
TBR View: Dawson is always going to do a job, he’s been good for West Ham
Some players in football you just know will come in, do their work, get their head down, and perform when needed. Dawson is one of those players.
You rarely hear anything about him. But he has forged a fine career at the top level for himself and is now excelling under Moyes with West Ham again.
Keown is right to praise Dawson’s impact. Especially given the nod to Tarkowski and that £35m fee.
