Grealish shares what he said to Sterling during celebrations after he scored for England last night
Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling could be seen in conversation after England’s second goal of the game against Ivory Coast last night.
Grealish laid on his Manchester City teammate to double England’s lead against their visitors who were already down to ten men by that point.
Sterling celebrated with Ollie Watkins first, before going over to Grealish and speaking after the game, the £100 million City man has shared what was said between the pair.
At his post-match press conference, Grealish said: ” I just said to him any chance of you passing that to me? As he went running through the pitch.
“But Raz has brilliant shooting ability, he’s scored so many goals, so before anyone picks up on that thinking we were arguing, it’s obviously a joke between me and Raz!”
This England team is so united and together, as underlined by their support for Harry Maguire after a game at which he was booed by his own fans.
But everyone wants to find the back of the net for their country, and Sterling finished the chance well after a fantastic ball across from Grealish.
The red card altered the course of the game as a contest, but before that, Gareth Southgate’s men looked so sharp and constantly on the front foot against decent opposition.
Southgate has so many options to choose from that it is impossible to tell who will be in his frontline for the first game of the World Cup, with the exception of Harry Kane in attack, injury permitting.
