Grealish says team-mate McGinn is as good as former Aston Villa skipper Delph

Jack Grealish has compared Aston Villa team-mate John McGinn to Manchester City and England midfielder Fabian Delph, as per the Express and Star.

Grealish played alongside Delph at Villa Park, before he left for City in 2015 and believes Scotland international McGinn is just as good on the basis of his performances this season.

Grealish said: “I am not sure who I would choose between him (McGinn) and Fabian. I loved playing with him when he was here and Ginny reminds me of him; the way they are both so eager to get the ball back and their work off the ball.”

Delph has had his share of critics, but Spotrac claim he is on £90,000 a week at City, he is a Premier League winner and was part of the England squad who went to the semi-finals of the World Cup during the summer.

That puts McGinn in brilliant company and he is only going to get better. He was an absolute steal from Hibernian and his impact on Villa has been huge.

He is arguably the best central midfielder Villa have had since Delph, and together with Grealish, is absolutely vital to the club’s hopes of getting back into the Premier League.
