Jack Grealish has been telling ITV Sport exactly how he feels when Arsenal star Bukayo Saka starts ahead of him.

The Manchester City magician has been forced to play an impact role from the bench for the Three Lions.

He’s come on as a substitute in all four of England’s games at the World Cup and bagged a goal in the 6-2 win over Iran.

Saka has been a revelation for Arsenal this season and he’s been one man who has been ahead of Grealish in the pecking order.

City teammate Phil Foden has started the last two matches and he looks set to keep his place in the team against France.

Grealish isn’t fazed though. He’s all about the squad and he understands that for now, he has to remain patient.

The talented winger certainly isn’t hoping anyway performs badly in order for him to get a chance in the team.

He told ITV Sport: “I’ve just come on in the games and I’d love to play and start every game and play 90 minutes but I’d never be sitting there, being a bad egg because I’m not playing.

“I wouldn’t be saying that I want Phil or Bukayo to do badly, because they’re my team and I love them.

“I think that’s one thing we have here, we’re a group of brothers who get on well off the pitch and I think that helps us, I really do.”

The Manchester City man is somewhat misunderstood. Some have him down as a bit of a party boy but he’s a true professional.

His inclusion in the England squad isn’t up for debate and one day he will become a regular in the team.

Grealish hasn’t had an amazing 2022/23 campaign and perhaps the clamour for him to play at the World Cup isn’t as high as it was at Euro 2020.

He’s still a quality player though. Having him on the bench ready to unleash for the final 30 minutes of a clash is certainly ideal for England.

It’s great to hear that the team spirit within the England camp is high and hopefully that can help them stun France on Saturday.
