Hull City manager Grant McCann is “delighted” to have Jarrod Bowen but he kept quiet about the Newcastle United transfer links, The Hull Daily Mail reports.
McCann refused to comment on speculation linking Bowen with a move to Newcastle. Various reports, including this one by The Chronicle, suggest that Bowen is on Newcastle’s radar.
There is no surprise in this when you look at his stats. The 22-year-old scored twice against Middlesbrough last weekend and then twice against Preston on Wednesday night. This takes his total tally to 12 league goals for the season with only Aleksandr Mitrovic bettering that.
McCann on Bowen

Speaking after the midweek win against Preston, McCann said (via The Hull Daily Mail):“ If the question is whether we’re going to sell him in January is not for me. But the way he’s playing at the minute, we’re just over the moon. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, he’s the best at what he does in this league.
“We’re delighted to have him. I want Jarrod to keep scoring because he deserves it. The mentality he’s got is unbelievable.”
TBR’s view
Bowen is a tremendous talent and Newcastle need to make this a priority. End product has been lacking for the Magpies with Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron, Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle and Joelinton managing one goal between them.
At the same time, Bowen is still banging in the goals. That’s 50 in just over 100 games for the Tigers now. He’s young, English, hungry and ready to step up.
