Granit Xhaka set to be made to wait by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

New Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, is set to put the blockers on Granit Xhaka and his proposed move away from the club.

Xhaka has been strongly linked with a move to Hertha Berlin in recent days. The Swiss star has been unhappy at the Emirates for some time now and even cursed fans a few months back when he was subbed.

However, despite seemingly demanding a move, new Gunners boss Arteta looks like he is set to frustrate the midfielder.

According to reports from the Sun, Arteta is keen to assess his squad before making any decisions. That, then, includes keeping hold of Xhaka for the time being at the very least.

Furthermore, it is reported that Xhaka is unimpressed with his new manager’s latest stance.

Forcing a way out

Players can often lose their way at some clubs. With Granit Xhaka here, it definitely looks like being a case of when, and not if, he will move on.

However, with Mikel Arteta now in the dugout, the Swiss midfielder might need to show some patience.

Xhaka has divided fans since moving to the Gunners back in 2016. His performances have never consistently delivered in the eys of some Arsenal fans.

Although, last season Xhaka did have his best goalscoring season for the club. The midfielder netting four times in the Premier League alone.

TBR view

You can’t help but think this is nothing short of Arteta showing who is boss. He won’t want to be dictated to and won’t want other players to follow Xhaka’s lead.

There’s little doubt Xhaka is on his way out. It just feels like the new Arsenal boss is putting a foot down somewhat.

It’s a shrewd move from Arteta in all honesty. The club needs an overhaul and by doing small things like this, he will be putting a stamp on things.
