Granit Xhaka reportedly ready to make injury return against Liverpool on Saturday

The midfielder missed the game against Burnley.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is set to make his return from injury when the Gunners travel to Anfield to face Liverpool this Saturday, according to the Daily Mail.

The £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) midfielder missed the home 2-1 win over Burnley last weekend with a minor injury but will apparently be fit to play against the Reds.

Xhaka is apparently back in training after that minor absence, and Mesut Ozil is also reportedly in line to make his return after missing the first two matches of the season.

That means that Unai Emery could well be set to see a major boost to his midfield ranks, as he goes in search of the right formula to maintain his side’s 100 per cent record.

TBR’s View – Midfield balance is vital to coming away with a result

Arsenal have won their first two matches of the season and while they were stern tests, they were against sides you would expect the Gunners to beat.

This is their first major examination of the season and plenty will depend on how Emery sets up his midfield in order to deal with Liverpool’s intense pressing and provide enough service for a frontline that can cause problems.

Dani Ceballos gave a masterclass against Burnley, but an away trip to Anfield will test his work without the ball.
