Saka stole the show on his World Cup debut when England faced Iran in their opening game.
The 21-year-old scored a brace and won the Man of the Match award in a convincing 6-2 victory for Gareth Southgate’s side. Xhaka, who watched his performance, was really impressed.
He claimed that England have a number of exciting youngsters capable of helping them go all the way in the competition, and namechecked Saka as the ‘amazing’ player who has already shown his class at the World Cup this year.
“You see the generation they have, the young players, for example, Saka, he does well, he is one of us from Arsenal.
“Amazing guy, amazing player, he can make a difference, you saw him as well in the first game.”
Saka is a sensational player, there’s no debate on that front.
The youngster has been absolutely brilliant for Arsenal, and he proved his class on the global stage as well in England’s opener against Iran last month.
Saka was given a breather when England faced Wales a few days ago. Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford both performed incredibly well, which makes Southgate’s life a lot harder now when it comes to picking his side.
It will be interesting to see if Saka gets the nod against Senegal. Xhaka and Arsenal fans will certainly say yes.
