Graham Roberts slams missing Tottenham trio following Palace loss

Tottenham lost out today in miserable fashion as Crystal Palace struck three past them to end their winning start to the Premier League season.

The manager of the month curse well and truly struck for Nuno Santo, although there were circumstances beyond his control which didn’t help.

He was without the influence of Heung-Min Son for a start. Further, he was also without the South American trio of Davinson Sanchez, Cristian Romero, and Giovani Lo Celso. All three jetted off last week, and are now in Croatia training alone pending a return to the UK.

And while Santo made some questionable tactical calls in the game today, former player and regular tweeter, Graham Roberts, insisted the trio currently in quarantine had let their teammates down today.

Mali XI If All Eligible Players Had Declared For Them

Arguably, those three being missing forced Santo’s hand a bit. He could have done with Lo Celso in the middle of the park, in fairness to him.

TBR’s View: Tottenham all at sea but Palace deserve credit

For all Spurs’ own mistakes and poor performance today, there was an element of Crystal Palace just being better on the day.

The seemed to out-fight Spurs, and once Japhet Tanganga had been given his marching orders, they never looked back.

Nuno Santo will be hoping this is just a blip. As for Roberts and his thoughts, he is well within his rights to offer that opinion. The South American trio have, in a way, brought eyes and stress to the club which wasn’t needed.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Nuno does with those players when they return.
