Graham Roberts says manager reportedly wanted by Spurs is ‘raving’ and ‘always aggressive’

Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts believes Antonio Conte wouldn’t be the right fit for Spurs.

The north Londoners remain in pursuit of a new manager following Jose Mourinho’s sacking last month.

Conte, who previously managed Chelsea, has been linked with Spurs in recent weeks.

However, his departure from Inter Milan has led to an increase in speculation regarding a potential move to Tottenham.

Conte has just led the Nerazzurri to their first Serie A title in 11 years, finally breaking Juventus’ hold on the Scudetto.

The 51-year-old’s CV is impressive, with one Premier League, four Serie A titles, an FA Cup, two Italian Super Cups and a Serie A title under his belt.

Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino have also been linked with the Spurs hotseat, and Roberts thinks the Argentine would be the fans’ choice.

“Conte is very different to Pochettino and Zidane,” Roberts told talkSPORT on Thursday.

“I think Zidane is quite a quiet person but Conte is raving, he runs up and down the line, he gets involved, he’s always aggressive.

“I’m not sure that is the right fit for Tottenham. We’ve had it with Mourinho, he’s also managed Chelsea, I don’t think the fans would go for that.

“Zidane would be a great choice, but I think if you asked every Tottenham fan Pochettino would be the one they want.”

Roberts has a point – a fiery manager like Mourinho hasn’t worked out at Spurs, so they might as well try a different approach.

Zidane is untested in the Premier League, so if Pochettino is indeed available and willing to rejoin Spurs, then why not?
