Graham Roberts has told TalkSPORT that Christian Eriksen should leave Tottenham Hotspur, and claims Mauricio Pochettino is making a mistake in even naming the Danish playmaker on the bench.
Tottenham fans are hurting after the north Londoners were battered at home on Tuesday night to German champions Bayern Munich. Former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry netted four times, with Hugo Lloris helpless between the sticks.
Son Heung-min and Harry Kane scored for Spurs, but Robert Lewandowski nabbed a brace and Joshua Kimmich scored from all of 25 yards. Spurs are in disarray, and the defeat to bayern is only set to see that continue.
Former Tottenham man Roberts spoke passionately on TalkSPORT, urging Eriksen to leave the club. He also claimed that Mauricio Pochettino should not be include Eriksen in the Tottenham squad at all.

“He shouldn’t be on the bench, he shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team,” Roberts said. “He wants to leave. Go. If you’ve got players in your squad that want to leave, well they have to go. The badge on the shirt is bigger than any name on the back.
“You cannot have players in the ckub saying they want to leave, because then there isn’t a good feeling. If I told the manager when I was playing that I want to leave, I would have been sold two days later.”
TBR’s view – Roberts is bang on, Eriksen must leave Tottenham
Tottenham’s squad are unsettled and it is Eriksen right at the core of it. If Spurs are to finally get the past this period of uncertainty and lacklustre performances, the need to get rid of Eriksen – or at least sort out his future.
But until then, the former Ajax star cannot be anywhere near the first team. There is no point having him on the bench. Roberts is right, he needs to be completely ousted from the side.
Joining Spurs in the summer of 2013 for £11.5million (BBC) from Ajax, Eriksen has clocked up 287 outings for Spurs. But it remains to be seen if he will surpass the 300 mark.
