Graham Roberts singled out Giovani Lo Celso following his display in Tottenham’s draw away to Southampton on Saturday.
Spurs ended up draw 1-1 at St Mary’s against Premier League opponents in the FA Cup, which means the two teams will lock horns again in a replay in North London.
Jose Mourinho’s side took the lead in the 58th minute when Heung-Min Son rifled in the opener.
But hosts Southampton equalised late on in the 87th minute through substitute Sofiane brutal.
Ex-Spurs defender Roberts felt that Lo Celso was a real standout in the contest and feels he’s a key player moving forward.
The 23-year-old thought he had opened the scoring in the first-half before VAR ruled it out for an offside, but apart from that was extremely busy in the centre of the park and looked composed.
“In the hat should have put the tie to bed though! What a player Giovani Lo Celso looks now let’s get Tanguy Nodmbele in there and we can really have a top midfield. Thought the back four done well overall and Toby Alderweireld, Japhet Tanganga superb,” Roberts wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Lo Celso is really now starting to look the business in a Spurs shirt and the cup performance was another indication that he’s adjusting to life in England.
The left-footed playmaker is now receiving so much more of the ball and looks comfortable in possession, with lots of his teammates now turning to him to create.
He arrived as a potentially great addition to the squad and it’s no surprise that he’s now kicking on.
