Graham Roberts reacts to Tanguy Ndombele display for Spurs v Rennes
Spurs legend Graham Roberts has given his verdict on Tanguy Ndombele’s display for Tottenham today.
The France international made his first start under Nuno Espirito Santo in the Europa Conference League trip to Rennes.
Spurs played out a 2-2 draw at Roazhon Park this evening, with Ndombele one of his side’s best players.
His backheel started the move for Spurs’ opener on 11 minutes, the Loic Bade own goal.
Ndombele was bright and lively throughout, one of the few Tottenham players who looked like he could make something happen.
He offered plenty going forward, making good runs off the ball and creating chances, and also tracked back often.
Plenty of Spurs fans sung Ndombele’s praises on Twitter during and after the game in France.
Meanwhile, Roberts said the midfielder was “very good in glimpses” for Spurs.
Here’s what he wrote on Twitter:
Ndombele joined Tottenham in the summer of 2019 from Lyon for a club-record £63million.
He had a difficult first season in north London but emerged as a regular starter under Jose Mourinho last term.
However, the 24-year-old dropped back to the bench under Ryan Mason and was initially out of favour under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Now he’s back in the fold, Tottenham fans will be eager to see him start more regularly, given how much quality he can show, as he did today.
Spurs are back in action this Sunday as they host Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
