'Nothing short of outstanding': Graham Roberts raves about experienced Tottenham star

Tottenham started off 2022 with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Watford yesterday as Antonio Conte continued to turn things around in North London. A late header from Davinson Sanchez did the damage and kept Spurs firmly in touch with the top four.

2021, on the other hand, was a rollercoaster of a year for the club. Jose Mourinho left, Ryan Mason stepped in, Harry Kane wanted out, before a summer long search resulted in Nuno Espirito Santo getting the manager’s job. But he lasted just months, and now the club finally has a serial winner in Conte in charge. Certainly, things are looking up for the club.

But among all the talking points, one man, Hugo Lloris, remained a model of consistency in the Spurs goal. The captain has been in fine form but with no new contract, there is a worry whether Lloris will stay put at Tottenham.

And according to club legend Graham Roberts, Lloris has shown everyone just why he’s so well-regarded. Taking to Twitter, Roberts took time out to sing the praises of the French stopper.

Antonio Conte is hoping Lloris signs new terms with the club. He is currently one of the top earners on around £100k-a-week. However, given his importance to the team, it seems a no-brainer for Spurs to either give him the same, or even up that salary in his next deal.

TBR’s View: Lloris One Of The Premier League’s Best

The best goalkeepers in the world are consistent and Hugo Lloris is definitely that. For both Tottenham and France, he is simply outstanding on a weekly basis.

Roberts is right in his assessment of Lloris here. It is easy to see why he’s so highly-rated, and there is no doubt Tottenham are a worse team without him.

Spurs fans, and Conte, will be keeping everything crossed for a new deal for Lloris.
