Christian Eriksen has finally been confirmed as an Inter Milan player on Wednesday afternoon after months of speculation surrounding his Tottenham Hotspur future – Graham Roberts and two Tottenham players have reacted on social media.
Eriksen’s contract at Tottenham was due to expire at the end of the season, and has been expected to leave ever since commenting last summer that he wanted a change. Indeed, he has now signed on the dotted line to complete that change.
He has moved to Tottenham’s 2018-19 Champions League opponents Inter Milan, with a fee of £17m believed to have been paid to Spurs – despite Inter being able to sign him for nothing this summer. He is said to be earning more than £300,000 a week.
Eriksen moved to Tottenham way back in the summer of 2013 from Ajax, and has since clocked up an enormous 305 appearances in all competitions for the north London side. This season, though, has tarnished his relationship with the fans.
Beforehand, he was a fan favourite, producing a bit of magic when needed and providing the creative force in Spurs’ pushes for the Premier League title and journey to the Champions League final. He scored 69, and created 89 goals for Tottenham.
Tottenham icon and former captain Roberts reacted on Twitter, bidding farewell to Eriksen and stating that Spurs will miss him. Current teammates Vorm and Vertonghen also reacted on Instagram and agreed with Roberts.
