Dane Scarlett has been rewarded for his excellent breakthrough campaign at Tottenham with his first professional contract at Spurs, triggered after he turned 17 – prompting reaction from Joao Sacramento and Graham Roberts.

Scarlett turned 17 last week and upon doing so, became available to sign professional terms and Tottenham have acted swiftly – representing just how highly they rate the England Under-17 striker. His goal tally is impressive.

Despite his tender age, Scarlett has become a regular with the Under-23 side and has even earned three senior appearances under Jose Mourinho – two of which have come in the Europa League, and one in the Premier League.

The striker, who has initially caught the eye after 21 goals in 18 games at Under-18 level – has also netted twice in four reserve games and has appeared on the bench in five other senior outings. He posted on Instagram.

Tottenham confirmed the news on their official website, penning a deal that will run until the summer of 2023 – the longest possible deal Spurs can afford to hand a player of 17 years of age. It is the least he deserves.

Assistant manager Sacramento responded to the news on Tottenham’s Instagram update, applauding Scarlett while Tottenham icon Roberts was full of praise on Twitter – suggesting he has the potential to emulate Harry Kane.
