Graeme Souness predicts who will finish higher in PL table - Tottenham or Manchester United
The race for the top four in the Premier League this season will be a really exciting one, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United separated by just a point.
There have been a lot of surprises in the Premier League this season – Arsenal are on top of the table, Manchester City are five points behind the Gunners, and Newcastle, who are currently third, look absolutely incredible.
Tottenham and Manchester United are fourth and fifth respectively, and Graeme Souness has just predicted who among the two will finish higher in the Premier League this season.
Graeme Souness predicts who will finish higher in PL table – Tottenham or Manchester United
Tottenham and Manchester United have had very different seasons so far, but they’re still right next to each other in the Premier League table.
Spurs were unbeaten in their first seven games of the campaign, winning five. Even though they weren’t playing well, they were getting results, which is the most important thing. However, in their next nine league games, they’ve managed just four wins, which isn’t a great return.
Manchester United, on the other hand, had a shocking start to the season, losing each of their first two games – the second of which was a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Brentford. However, they’ve lost just twice in the league since, winning nine of their 13 games.
Souness has kept a close eye on both sides, but he believes Antonio Conte’s men will finish higher than Erik Ten Hag’s side in the Premier League table.
He wrote in The Daily Mail: “From one club in third whose supporters are delighted with their manager, to another in fourth where some fans are moaning about the style of football.
“Having spent five years as a young man at Tottenham, I know a little of how their supporters think. Going back to Bill Nicholson’s ‘push and run’, they have a belief of playing the game a certain way. I would ask their fans to be patient with Antonio Conte, however.
“His brand of football is a winning one. He pushes players to the point where you’re almost falling out with him, and I like that. He has a track record like few others. He has only had two transfer windows, and Spurs fans should give him time.
“I think Spurs will finish above Manchester United.”
Manchester United have a game in hand over Tottenham at the moment. They take on Wolves this evening, while Spurs face Aston Villa tomorrow.
