Graeme Souness claims Man Utd have a player who’s so good, but so annoying

Graeme Souness has something of a reputation as one of the most straight-talking pundits in football

Indeed, the Liverpool legend turned pundit is known to the younger generation as an analyst who will not mince his words, even if, sometimes, he probably should.

Souness made numerous headlines over the years with his criticism of Paul Pogba, and now, he’s taken a bit of a shot at another Manchester United player.

Speaking on Charlie Mulgrew’s YouTube channel, Souness was asked which modern players he’s a fan of.

The Scot ran through a list of midfielders from recent years he believes are top players, before beginning to comment on Bruno Fernandes.

Souness named the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho and Rodri as midfielders he’s a fan of.

Meanwhile, he also said he thinks Bruno Fernandes is a fantastic player, but he does also get irritated by his antics on the pitch at times.

“De Bruyne, unbelievable. I like Fernandinho, Rodri, he’s lost a wee bit, but he was outstanding.

“Who else do I like? The boy Fernandes at Man U, he irritates you because of his antics, but what a player he is, what a player he is.”

This isn’t the first time Souness has gone on the record to praise Fernandes.

Indeed, a few years ago, Souness said he’d like Fernandes at Liverpool – bold praise for a club legend from a rival.

“He is a player. I don’t think he’s a captain. In terms of quality if he played for Liverpool or if he played for City he would be a fantastic player,” Souness said.

“But I accept his body language isn’t great at times and I was majorly disappointed with him in the 7-0 defeat at Anfield last year when he just stopped running back,” Souness said.

Souness was frustrated with Fernandes’ antics in terms of complaining at his teammates and seemingly giving up when a game was beyond him, but, to his credit, Fernandes has stopped a lot of that, and has channeled his energy more positively.

There’s a reason Fernandes is the Premier League Player of the Year.
