Graeme Souness has blasted Divock Origi for his performance in Liverpool’s shock 1-0 defeat against Burnley at Anfield last night (Sky Sports).
The Belgian forward was handed a rare starting berth in place of Roberto Firmino but his night turned sour on the stroke of half-time.
A misplaced Ben Mee clearance allowed Origi to race through one-on-one with Clarets goalkeeper Nick Pope.

The 25-year-old chose power over placement, however, with his effort crashing off the underside of the crossbar.
Souness claimed at half-time that he had a feeling Origi would fluff is lines when he raced through.
He told Sky Sports (21/01; 20:55): “Anyone but him, really, if it had been any of the normal front three.
“I know he’s got some important goals for them, but I did say to you, as he was going through that he’s not going to score here. His first touch is great, second touch great, he gives himself time to open the body up and he’s missed it.
“You can say if it was six inches lower, or six inches to the left then it’s a goal, but it wasn’t. He doesn’t hit the net and it’s a really bad miss.”
TBR View: Time running out on Origi’s career at Liverpool
As Souness says Origi has scored some important goals for the Reds during the last couple of seasons.
He quite simply can’t live off those glories forever and last night was his big chance to impress.
When the chance fell his way on the stroke of the interval his eyes must have lit up.

In fluffing his lines, he highlighted a real problem which is emerging for Jurgen Klopp.
His fringe players just aren’t producing the goods and the boss is going to have to get brutal with some of his squad.
The £50,000-a-week player has barely played all season and a move away from Anfield in the near future might be best for all parties.
