‘Got to be better’… Pundit names top three side least likely to win title after Arsenal and Manchester City wins

Simon Jordan has named the top three side he believes is least likely to win the Premier League title this season, after Arsenal beat Liverpool on Sunday.

The title race was blown wide open at the weekend. Arsenal took full advantage of Liverpool being well below par at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta‘s side ran out 3-1 winners to move to within two points of the summit.

Manchester City may well have hoped for Arsenal to beat Liverpool. Pep Guardiola’s men followed that result by beating Brentford on Monday night. Phil Foden scored a superb hat-trick at the Gtech Community Stadium as the Cityzens also moved themselves to within two points of the league leaders.

Simon Jordan thinks Arsenal are top three side least likely to win Premier League title

The last few days have whet the appetite for what could be one of the most exciting title races for some time this season.

Speaking on talkSPORT following Manchester City’s win over the Bees, Simon Jordan suggested that he would place Arsenal as the outsiders despite their victory over Liverpool.

“There’s no reason why Manchester City should decline. They buy better players, their manager’s still fully focused. They’ve got the best centre forward in world football. It’s expected, it’s incumbent on the others to raise their game. I don’t think it’s fair to say same old story, same old service being resumed,” he said.

“Everyone else has got to be better. If you’re relying on the decline of Manchester City, then that’s not what football should be about. It should be about your ascent. I think that there are three teams in this title race: Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. I think the least likely of them to win it is Arsenal. But they’re in it.”

Gunners will embrace underdogs tag

Arsenal may be content with the idea of being underdogs. Of course, they are the one team of the three who have not won a title in the last decade. Bukayo Saka was not even three when the Invincibles got their hands on the trophy in 2004.

The Gunners came agonisingly close last season. And it seems that they just ran out of steam after leading the way for so much of last season before being hunted down by Manchester City.

So as long as they remain in touch with their rivals, they may not be too unhappy with the thought of being written off.

Obviously, Jordan is not writing them off. But his view will echo what many probably think of Arsenal and their title hopes this season.
