‘Got consistently better’… Pundit says 28-year-old Arsenal player has been improving every single week

David Raya came in at Arsenal with a lot to prove.

Indeed, the Spaniard joined the club and immediately usurped a fan favourite in the shape of Aaron Ramsdale, and that led to plenty of unrest amongst the Arsenal fanbase.

Certain sections of supporters were ready to nitpick any mistake Raya made, and while he did have a sketchy start with poor games against the likes of Chelsea and Luton in particular, he’s improved a lot recently and those conversations have staeted to fade away.

Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Dean Ashton has been discussing Raya and Ramsdale ahead of this weekend’s game against Brentford, and he says that he’s noticed Raya consistently getting better throughout this season.

David Raya has been consistently improving

Ashton spoke about the 28-year-old.

“Yeah I think there will be (pressure on Ramsdale). He’s sat on the sidelines for weeks and David Raya’s performance levels have got consistently better and everyone has stopped talking about Aaron Ramsdale. Not for his future, but to remind people that he’s a top goalkeeper, but I don’t think he’ll have that much to do,” Ashton said.

Grown

Ashton is spot on, Raya has grown in stature and confidence in recent months at Arsenal.

When the Spaniard first came in, he was under so much scrutiny, and, understandably, that led to more than a few criticisms.

However, in recent times, those criticisms have died down as everyone has grown to accept Mikel Arteta’s decision, and that lack of noise has led to a great improvement from Raya.

Now, it’s almost easy to see why Raya was brought in to replace Ramsdale, and if Arsenal do go on to win the Premier League this season, Raya will have played a huge part in their success.

Raya’s recent improvement for Arsenal certainly deserves a lot of praise.
