David Ornstein has given his verdict on whether or not Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could be able to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2024.
The Athletic journalist has noted the hurdles that Arsenal face in getting a deal done for Ferguson.
So, what has David Ornstein has said about Arsenal and Evan Ferguson? Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, Arsenal have been linked with Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are interested in Ferguson and have been scouting him for a while.
The 19-year-old striker has scored five goals in seven Premier League starts for Brighton this season.
The Republic of Ireland international scored six goals and provided two assists in 10 Premier League starts last season.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has said that it is going to be hard for Arsenal to prise away Ferguson in the summer of 2024.
Ornstein wrote in The Athletic during a Q&A session: “Evan Ferguson next summer? Good luck trying to get him out of Brighton (he has just signed a second new contract in 2023 alone!) but I think he is going to be an absolute star, whether it’s at Brighton or elsewhere.
“He seems to have all the physical and technical attributes to become a top striker – and the character to boot.”
Arsenal should look at someone more experienced than Evan Ferguson
In my opinion, Arsenal should try to sign a striker who is more experienced and mature than Evan Ferguson.
Now, I am not saying that Ferguson is not a very good striker. I know that he is. He is rated very highly and has done well for Brighton and Hove Albion so far.
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has said that Ferguson is “a really special talent” and “a very special” striker.
However, Ferguson is just 19 now. I do not think that he is ready to lead the line for Arsenal in their quest to win the Premier League title and make an impact in the UEFA Champions League.
The Republic of Ireland international striker should not made to play under pressure either given that he is just a teenager.
At Brighton, there is no expectation to win each and every game. Things are different at Arsenal, who are back to being a force to be reckoned with under manager Mikel Arteta.
