A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on former Gunners manager Unai Emery being appointed head coach at Villarreal.

Emery arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2018 to much fanfare, taking over from long-serving boss Arsene Wenger with an illustrious and trophy-laden CV.

The Spaniard had won three consecutive Europa League trophies in a row at Sevilla between 2014 and 2016.

At Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, he lifted the 2017-18 Ligue 1 title as well as six domestic cup trophies.

While at Arsenal, Emery led the club to the Europa League final and a fifth-place finish in the Premier League, but was dismissed after 18 months in charge following a poor run of results.

The 48-year-old now takes charge of a team for the first time since November, penning a three-year deal at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Former Villarreal boss Javier Calleja left the club last week after leading them to a fifth-place finish in La Liga, ensuring qualification for next season’s Europa League.
