A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to praise Toffees academy graduate Ellis Simms for his latest goal away from Goodison Park on loan.

Simms has risen through the Everton ranks to become a regular in David Unsworth’s Under-23s side over the last 18 months.

His prolific goalscoring tally for the Under-18s in 2018-19 led to many Everton fans tipping him for stardom, and he has been progressing steadily since then.

Simms has been on loan at League One side Blackpool since January, scoring a brace on his debut, and now has four goals and two assists from 12 league appearances.

The 20-year-old’s latest goal came in Friday’s 2-0 win at Swindon Town, opening the scoring just before the break with a fierce effort into the far corner of the opposition net.

Blackpool shared footage of Simms’ goal on their Twitter feed, and Evertonians and Seasiders alike praised the youngster for his effort:

Simms made it into a Premier League matchday squad for the first time earlier this season, getting a spot on the bench for the 2-1 loss at Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old was also among the substitutes when Carlo Ancelotti’s side took on Rotherham in the FA Cup.
