Gomes' display this Sunday could earn him a move to Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur travel to Merseyside this Sunday to take on Everton at Goodison Park.
Riding high after their derby win in the EFL Cup quarter-final, Tottenham will be hoping to follow things up with a win against Everton in the Premier League.
But Spurs will also be keen to see how Andre Gomes performs this Sunday.
According to The Sun, Tottenham are interested in signing Gomes from Barcelona after his loan spell at Everton expires.
The 25-year-old has been in impressive form for the Toffees and unsurprisingly, Everton are desperate to snap him up.
But Spurs could provide competition for Gomes, considering they need a new long-term central midfield option.
With Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama potentially heading away from Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino is mulling over his options.
Gomes would be an ideal candidate as he is entering the prime of his career and has already demonstrated his ability for Everton.
The Portugal international has one assist in nine Premier League matches but has thrived in a deeper central midfield role.
The impressive playmaker has completed 450 passes and had 18 successful dribbles, according to Who Scored.
Gomes is getting better with each game he plays and if he stands out against Tottenham’s midfield on Sunday, it could convince Spurs to press ahead with this deal.
