Pierluigi Gollini has clearly been left baffled that Eric Dier has not been recalled to the England squad judging by his response to his Tottenham Hotspur teammate’s Instagram post following Sunday’s win.
Spurs have moved themselves up to fifth in the Premier League. They beat West Ham 3-1 at the weekend, with Son Heung-min scoring twice, and Harry Kane setting up all three.

The result saw Kane and Son pull clear for being the most lethal partnership in Premier League history. But it also saw Antonio Conte’s men produce another impressive defensive display.
Cristian Romero has been outstanding of late. His performance even led to a comparison with Virgil van Dijk. But Dier was also absolutely superb.

He has been brilliant for much of the season. Dier has silenced a lot of critics by rediscovering his best form. And with that, some may have been expecting the 28-year-old to be recalled to the England squad.
Dier was last called up 12 months ago. But that wait continues.
Dier was nowhere to be seen in the latest squad, and that has not sat well with his Tottenham teammate. Gollini made it clear what he makes of Dier’s omission on Instagram in the wake of Sunday’s win…

Dier certainly in better form for Tottenham than some England teammates
Gareth Southgate has tended to pick a squad that is made up of a mixture of in-form players and those he clearly trusts. Two of those in the latter category are Harry Maguire and Tyrone Mings.
Many will feel that Dier is in better form for Tottenham than both of those players. And with that, many will agree with Gollini that he deserved a fresh chance in this break.
